“The one that works, the one that lasts”

ABOUT

In 1888, John Dunlop developed the pneumatic tire for his son’s trike and then adapted it to a bicycle. The rider won almost every race he entered, and a patent was awarded. There was no doubt of the advantages of riding on air over the hard, bone jarring wheels then in use, and for his invention John Dunlop was dubbed, the father of the pneumatic tire. But along with this distinction he unwittingly also became known as the Father of the Flat Tire. For the next 100 years man was plagued with the problems of flat tires. Until in 1982 when the sealant we now know as Flat Attack Sealant was invented in Southern California and quickly became the number 1 selling sealant in the nation and world. Other than a couple of minor changes to safer ingredients, the formula we use today is the exact same formula as it was in 1982. It has proven over the years to be effective and long lasting and will bring back the joy of riding, and provide the flat free experience you are looking for.

Every ounce of Flat Attack is painstakingly made to our exacting standards with the end user and the environment in mind. We appreciate your visit and hope you will give Flat Attack a try. If you have questions or comments please contact us.

ENVIRONMENT

HOME

One of the principles that guides our operation here at Flat Attack is to protect the environment. Every ingredient we use is either totally benign or we spend extra money to get food grade materials. After we mix every batch we wash our equipment out, and in the process we catch all of the wash water. All of this water except a small amount is recycled and used in the next batch. There is a small amount that we do not want to reuse as we are unsure of the amounts of various chemicals and we do not want to upset the integrity of the new batch. This left over wash water is then set out to dry, and the dry ‘clump’, which is totally safe, is then properly disposed of in the land fill.  Although our ingredients are benign, every care is taken to protect the sewer system.

One over looked facet of being environmentally studious is in the use of pre-filled inner tubes. Other sealants which have a life span of a couple of months to perhaps a couple of years should never be installed into a tube! The logic is simple; when the sealant fails, as they do, the tube then becomes useless and must be discarded. If you add more sealant, the tube just fills up with useless byproducts and after less than a year, the tubes is sent to a premature death in the land fill. Dispatching thousands of tubes to this early grave is not a wise practice.

A word of caution: Some sealant use various chemicals such as ethylene glycol, which, although some of these chemicals may degrade quickly, and are considered “environmentally safe”, they are still very poisonous and are unsafe to use in sealants. “Environmentally Safe” does not always mean the sealant is safe to humans, animals or the earth!

SEALANT

TUBES

To make the use of Flat Attack more convenient we inject quality tubes with the appropriate amount of sealant for the size and offer it ready to install and enjoy. This utilizes one of the greatest features of Flat Attack, which is, that because of its long life it is perfect for use in tubes. It lasts so long that if you wear out a tire, simply move the tube from the old tire to a new one and keep enjoying the benefits of the Flat Attack for many, many more miles.

To use these tubes simply remove your old tube, check for and remove any puncturing agents that may be protruding through the tire, install the Freedom Tube in the tire, mount the tire and inflate to the tires recommended pressure.

A word of caution: Choose the correct size of tube for your tire. Avoid the temptation to buy a narrow tube thinking it will stretch to fill a wider tire and you will save some weight. When you do this and the tube does stretch to fill the tire, the rubber of the tube gets so thin the Flat Attack has a much harder time plugging the wound. It takes longer to seal and cannot seal as big a hole.
